ABOUT CHRISTINE

Praised for her "enticing strength and marvelous vocal character" (Arts Knoxville), Christine Alfano's powerful and sparkling voice has charmed audiences at home and abroad. Described as possessing an "important" and "luscious" Verdian instrument, her voice is particularly at home in the music of the bel canto, romantic and veristic periods. Her singing has been featured on NPR's "Performance Today," America's most popular classical music radio program. Recent credits include Gertrud in Hansel and Gretel and Kate Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly with Amelia Island Opera, the title role of Suor Angelica with Bold City Opera, and Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus with Tennessee Opera Theatre. Active in the concert realm, she recently performed with the UK-based VIDA Guitar Quartet for Beaches Fine Arts Series, singing Villa-Lobos' Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5. Next up on her engagements, Christine returns to Sarasota Opera as a Studio Artist to cover the role of Fiordiligi in Mozart's Così fan tutte.
